Dr Hare is National Clinical Lead for the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) at the RCoA. NELA has been collecting data on over 20,000 patients annually since 2013. Data are fed back to hospitals in the form of annual reports, and also as a real-time quality improvement dashboard that provide instant comparison of local versus national data.

Sarah Hare joined Medway as a consultant anaesthetist in 2013. She is Directorate Clinical Lead for Governance and Course Director of Medway’s bespoke leadership and quality improvement training for Junior Doctors course; MediLead.

Dr Neil Kukreja

After completing higher surgical training within London and the South East Thames region Neil joined Medway as a consultant surgeon in 2012. He is the Clinical Director of the Division of Surgery (planned care).

Neil’s other interests include patient choice and their involvement in the design and structure of surgical services. He has, using the NELA dataset, formed the first emergency laparotomy patient support group of its kind which has led to the co-design and co-production of services for emergency laparotomy patients at Medway.
