FSRH Letter of Competence

Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH)

Your training options are provided by the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FSRH). The Faculty offers clinically based training and competence recognition for the provision of sexual and reproductive healthcare.

For gold-standard competency it is recommended that the FSRH Diploma is obtained before the Letter of Competence, however, the Letter of Competence can be achieved as a standalone qualification.

Letter of Competence:

  • Enables the holder to demonstrate that they have the knowledge and clinical skills required to provide the sub-dermal implant
  • Equips the learner with the evidence based knowledge, attitudes and skills required to consult with a woman requesting contraception, and to provide appropriately a sub-dermal implant and manage complications, side effects and removal
  • Open to nurses on the nursing part of the UK NMC register (excluding RN level 2) and doctors with both registration and a licence to practise with the UK GMC
  • The FSRH also offer a LoC for intrauterine contraception
